WALES SPRING TERM 2025 ROUND UP!

This spring has been an incredibly busy and exciting term for Bigfoot Wales, with creative projects and workshops taking place across the whole of Wales!

Our Mabinogion storytelling workshops have been our most popular programme, captivating young minds across South, West and Mid Wales. These sessions have brought the magic of Welsh mythology to life, sparking children’s imaginations and deepening their connection to their cultural heritage. The feedback has been fantastic, with students and teachers alike praising the immersive and engaging storytelling.

We’ve also been delivering animation workshops across Wales, including schools in North Wales through the Arts Council of Wales’ Have a Go funding. These workshops have given children the opportunity to explore animation techniques, bringing their ideas and stories to life in a dynamic and exciting way. The response has been incredible, with schools praising the sessions for igniting creativity and enthusiasm among students.

A major highlight of the term has been our large-scale project with five schools in the Raglan Primary Cluster in Monmouthshire. This unique initiative saw students working together to create a poignant film, My Life as a Military Child, which explores the experiences of children from military families. Through drama and storytelling, the project gave these children a powerful voice to share their stories, helping to foster understanding and empathy among their peers. To mark this incredible achievement, we will be holding a special film premiere at Raglan CIW VC Primary School. Friends, family members, and participants will gather to celebrate the project, and, for the first time, all the military children involved in the film will meet in person. This event will be a wonderful opportunity to honour their individuality and shared experiences, bringing them together in a moment of recognition and connection.

In addition to our workshops and special projects, we are also proud to be supporting schools through regular PPA (Planning, Preparation, and Assessment) cover sessions. At Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary in Caerphilly, we run engaging drama and animation sessions that the children absolutely love. Each term, we work towards creating a final film that showcases their creativity and learning, which is then shared with parents, guardians, and the school community. These sessions not only enrich the curriculum but also give children the opportunity to build confidence, express themselves, and develop storytelling skills in an exciting, hands-on way.

As we look ahead to the summer term, we are excited to continue inspiring young people through drama, storytelling, digital media and the creative arts. A huge thank you to all the schools, students, and teachers who have made this term so special—we can’t wait to see what’s next!
