A staggering 100% of students feel better about starting secondary school after taking part in one of our summer courses!

With the completion of our many summer school projects that took place throughout July and August, we are delighted to share with you a few of our case studies which help celebrate the hard work of all involved:

But it’s not just about having fun. Please read on to see the impact we made when working with year 7 students getting ready to embark on a new challenge this September:

Statistics

At the start of the week an individual ‘Pre Project Questionnaire’ was carried out with all students in order to gauge their feelings towards starting secondary school, as well as taking part in the week with Bigfoot.

At the end of the project the students then completed an individual ‘Assessment for Learning’ sheets so that we could measure the success of the project, as well as assess the learning that had taken place for each child.

Comparison: You can see that there was a high increase in confidence and most pupils who were ‘quite confident’ ended up being ‘very confident’, and those that were not very confident ended up being ’quite confident/very confident’.

Comparison: As the results show, many students got more out of the course than originally expected, with the pre questionnaires helping to indicate the following by the end:

  • 23% more students felt they had made new friends than originally thought
  • 30% more students felt confidence than first predicted
  • 33% more students felt they had gotten used to the school by taking part in the week
  • 40% more students learnt new skills than first thought
  • 15% more students had fun than originally anticipated
