To celebrate our 10th year of Black History Month programmes, we are inviting children to enter the first of our new competitions this year entitled ‘My Hero’.
We want you to think about what the word ‘hero’ means to you. It could be a well-known figure from history or popular culture or even someone not in the public eye who has achieved something extraordinary. Perhaps someone from your local community, family or even your school!
And we are thrilled to announce TWO of our competition judges:
- Samantha Adams (BHM Writer & Director)
Sam says “I love judging competitions! It’s like opening the most wonderful and surprising presents about a subject you know well but can suddenly experience very differently. I can’t wait to see what celebrating Black History Month brings!”
- Claude Knights (Kidscape CEO)
Claude says “I was very pleased to be asked to be one of the judges for this very exciting competition. Heroes come in so many different shapes and sizes, and they can be role models for a variety of reasons. I really look forward to seeing who has inspired entrants to the competition. I have no doubt that there will be many very creative approaches to the topic.”
