Safer Internet Day 2018 is set to take place on Tuesday the 6th February and we are all geared up to help schools teach their pupils about how to be safer and smarter online!
Next year’s theme is “Create, connect and share respect: A better internet starts with you” which encourages all of us to play our part in helping to ensure everybody is safe online, especially younger users. Social media use is causing young people to face serious social pressures in today’s digital era, and it was recently reported that the number of children receiving counselling for cyberbullying has more than doubled in five years. With statistics like these, it goes to show how important and urgently we need to help tackle and prevent negative behaviour and promote positive and respectful behaviour to create a better internet for us all.
Therefore we’ve now added Be a Smart-E and Interactive Storytelling to this years E-safety programmes. Be a Smart-E is a new assembly and workshop for year 2 – 6 and interactive storytelling is a brand new workshop specifically for KS1. Both programmes are interactive and packed with information about how to stay safe online. For more information on the programmes see here.
