ANTI BULLYING WEEK 2022 ROUND UP!

As proud members of the Anti Bullying Alliance, our Bigfooters had an incredibly busy time spreading this year’s important message for children and young people to ‘Reach Out’ and recognise what they can do to help put a stop to bullying.

We were delighted to offer schools two assembly and workshop options for KS2; Choose Respect and What Would You Do?, as well as our popular KS1 assembly It’s Good To Be Me and I Like Myself workshops. In London alone we worked with over 50 schools to raise awareness about how we should treat others and how we should expect to be treated ourselves. We reflected on what positive relationships look like, as well as how to deal with negative attitudes and behaviour. We explored online safety and the concept of cyber bullying by using our accessible workshops as a vehicle for safely exploring serious issue facing all young people today. And, most importantly, we did it all with wisdom, creativity, and flair!

We received such wonderful feedback across the board and are pleased to share what schools had to say about us this year:

“This was a great experience for our students. They were able to learn the importance of respect and how they can use it in their everyday lives. (Van Gogh Primary School, Respect Workshops, November ’22)

The real-life scenarios provided an engaging and interactive way to get children to consider their own feelings and how they would respond in given situations. Children have continued talking about the topic, referring back to the assembly. (Goodwin Primary School, Choose Respect, November ’22)

I have had lots of positive feedback from the staff that our Bigfooter was great with all the children, he adapted his workshops to the different age groups and was able to motivate them really well. The children enjoyed the different games that they played and learnt some important messages in a fun and active way. All learners were engaged and enjoyed the workshops. (Walton Oak Primary School, Cyber Bullying Workshops, November ’22)

Such a fun and engaging atmosphere. This programme covers key topics and engage pupils from beginning to end. Bigfoot are inclusive and create an environment of safety and excitement for all (staff included). We want to thank you- it was amazing and our pupils get so excited when bigfoot come in- they give their all with enjoyment, respect, empathy and maturity when dealing with sensitive topics. (Kingsway Junior School, What would you do?, November ’22)

‘A great way to develop an understanding of bullying, its effects, the role of a bystander and how simple it is to reach and show kindness. Great service from start to finish. We will definitely recommend you to other school and organisations. Thank you.’ (Langley Moor Primary, Durham, Reach Out Film-making)

‘Really useful and thought provoking for the children – it gives them an insight into the feelings of others in a different and purposeful way. It gives them tools to use not just telling them what not to do.’ (Crookhill Primary, Gateshead. What Would You Do?)

Staff are really professional and knowledgeable! Quickly develop positive relationships with the children. Important Messages are delivered in an engaging way that ensures the children have a deep understanding at their level.’ (Escomb Primary, Durham, Reach Out Film-making)

‘A fast paced, well pitched and entertaining session which was loved by our children and staff!’ (Mill Hill Primary, Sunderland, Cyber Bullying)

We all loved It! The film helped us send home a very important message about bullying in a meaningful way to children, staff and parents. (Delves Lane Primary, Durham, Reach Out Film-making)

So a BIG thank you to all our highly talented Bigfooters for delivering our messages so coherently and with such energy, enthusiasm and commitment. And thank you to all the schools who chose to have us working with their students in order to help inspire such important anti bullying conversations.
