Everyone knows that with all new beginnings comes big change. Bigfoot’s inspiring transition programmes aim to help students of all ages connect with, explore and celebrate their upcoming transition creatively with their peers.
UPWARDS & ONWARDS (Assembly & Workshop Hybrid)
This assembly/workshop hybrid, designed for a maximum of 90 students (3 classes) to take part in together, invites participants to start discussions surrounding the various thoughts and concerns they have about the move from Primary to Secondary school. Inclusive of Bigfoot’s unique film that dramatises stories from Year 6 children through a humorous and relatable narrative, our Bigfooter will stop/start the action throughout to facilitate fun activities to help consolidate their learning. From stand up surveys, role play exercises, pair shares and quick quizzes, students will help to reassure one another, alleviate their fears and anxieties, whilst also exploring the many positive elements of transition. This really is the perfect opportunity to celebrate new beginnings in a positive and enjoyable way!
TRANSITION ‘PLAY IN A DAY’ (WORKSHOPS & SHARING)
This unique workshop gives your students the opportunity to take part in a group storytelling experience in order to create a unique piece of devised theatre based on transition… in just one day! Beginning each session with an exploration into the themes associated with moving on from Primary to Secondary school, groups will investigate both the challenges and highlights of starting afresh. They will then use this information as a stimulus for creating the beginning, middle or end of an overall ‘transition’ story that documents their own thoughts and anxieties about new beginnings, as well as celebrating their time at Primary school and hopes for the future in KS3. . Finally, all groups are invited back together at the end of the school day in order to share their stories with their peers and/or parents and guardians, all assisted by our Bigfoot facilitator.
