A Science-Themed Storytelling Experience Show for KS1 & KS2
Blast off on an unforgettable journey through science, storytelling, and imagination with “An Atomic Adventure” — a thrilling live experience where drama meets discovery. Children are invited to join our curious explorers, Pan and Dipper, two scientists from the Cat & Hutch Lab who find inspiration in a book that quite literally takes them out of this world. When a powerful solar storm splits their rocket in two, the pair are flung across the universe and land on very different planets, each filled with wonder, laughter, and learning.
On Planet Physics, Pan meets a friendly alien who teaches her about gravity, friction, and hot air through playful demonstrations and imaginative storytelling. Meanwhile, Dipper finds himself on Planet Chemistry, where he discovers the excitement of bubbling reactions, fizzing experiments, and even explosive mini bangs that reveal the magic of chemical change. Eventually, their journeys lead them both to Planet Biology, a world brimming with fascinating plants and extraordinary creatures that have evolved to survive in the harshest environments. Here they encounter a magnificent dragon, whose powerful wings and special adaptations make it the only creature capable of flying them safely home to Earth.
Every moment of An Atomic Adventure is filled with movement, colour, and creativity. For younger audiences in Key Stage 1, the performance encourages sensory participation and storytelling through sound, gesture, and imagination. The children join in as rockets are launched, planets are explored, and solar storms swirl around them in a flurry of colour and excitement. For older pupils in Key Stage 2, the experience deepens into scientific exploration, where curiosity drives discovery. They observe experiments up close, make predictions, and see the principles of energy, electricity, and reaction brought vividly to life before their eyes.
At its heart, An Atomic Adventure is about inspiring children to see science as something alive, exciting, and creative. It transforms complex ideas into playful moments of understanding, helping pupils connect what they learn in the classroom to the world around them. Through storytelling, theatre, and hands-on participation, the show nurtures curiosity, builds confidence, and celebrates the joy of learning.
This is more than just a performance, it’s a celebration of imagination and inquiry, where every child is encouraged to think, move, laugh, and wonder. By the time Pan and Dipper make their way back to Earth, the audience has travelled with them across galaxies of knowledge, leaving inspired, energised, and ready to see the science in their own everyday adventures.
You can book this programme any time of year, but it is also extremely popular during British Science Week in March or for enrichment days. Please book ahead to avoid disappointment.
Each hour-long interactive theatre and storytelling experience caters for a group of up to 120 pupils (4 classes) from KS2. We can deliver up to four experiences across a day.
