Hidden Figures

Join Focus, a colourful and entertaining storyteller, on a voyage of discovery! Transcending time, they will tell the fascinating stories of brilliant black British people, often omitted from our history lessons, who have shaped our country. Using these ‘hidden figures’ to entertain and inform discussions, we will expose children to a dynamic insight into our REAL history; a history that includes Black people as fundamental to creating the fabric of our society and the rich tapestry of who we are today.

Led by the vibrant and curious storyteller Focus, this interactive large-scale workshop invites KS1 and KS2 pupils to discover inspiring, often overlooked Black British trailblazers from the past and present. Through lively storytelling, role-play, drama games, and whole-group activities, up to 120 pupils embark on a journey of collective learning uncovering the achievements of real-life figures in science, politics, arts, and activism. Designed to challenge stereotypes and spark pride, the session includes creative tasks such as movement-based activities, character exploration, and reflection, all designed to celebrate representation and empower children to become changemakers in their own right.

Each hour long Big Experience caters for up to 120 pupils (4 classes) from KS1 & KS2. We can deliver up to 4 x 1 hour experiences across a school day.
