THE NORTH SPRING TERM ROUND UP

Spring term is always action packed for Bigfoot North with Children’s Mental Health Week, Safer Internet Day and World Book Day being big events on our school calendars!

Many of our schools who have already had our Worries to Wellbeing programme are now inviting us back to deliver the sequel ‘Worries, We’ve Got This’ that further explores an understanding of our worries and how we can take action to deal with them. North Frodingham Primary, in East Riding, did just that and they sent back lots of lovely feedback from their day with Ceri Smith.

“Excellently pitched to each year group to understand what worries are and feel like,

and how to deal with those feelings.

Really enjoyed it, thank you.”

Safer Internet Day and the surrounding weeks were mega busy with our offer of assembly programmes and workshops. Cyber Safety is so relevant with many children using technology from an extremely early age, which is why we have special workshops such as Boo Gets Cyber Smart that we deliver to children as young as 4. There’s a fab animation followed by lots of active tasks. St Hild’s College CE Primary loved their sessions with Bigfooter in Residence – Hannah Parsonage and said “She had an excellent manner and funny sense of humour which the children connected to instantly. She got involved with the children, engaged them and rewarded them so they were eager to listen and learn.”

World Book Day is possibly our favourite time of year as it provides so many opportunities to work imaginatively and in role. It’s 8 years since we first launched our Wolf on Trial programme, which invites the school to act as jury in the trial of The Big Bad Wolf and The Three Little Pigs. It continues to be one of our most popular programmes. Therefore, we introduced Goldilocks on Trial this year as she explains she ended up in the house of The Three Bears due to her new job as a travel blogger. Both are very funny and schools love the interactive nature of the trail assembly and workshops. “The children and staff really enjoyed it. It held their attention and got the children to use their imagination. It was lovely to see them developing their speaking and listening skills.” – West Denton Primary, Newcastle.

We are now looking forward to Shakespeare Week before we launch our Summer of Wellbeing offer, which promises a fantastic range of programmes for Mental Health Awareness & Refugee Week, World Environment Day and Transition. Busy, busy, busy!
