‘THE SOUTH’ AUTUMN TERM ROUND UP!

Our Autumn term has been devoted to our Creative Residency at Front Lawn Primary School in Havant. We have had the most brilliant time working with the same classes week on week, supporting the delivery of their creative curriculum through drama and visual art sessions. We have painted starry skies in the style of Van Gogh and explored a range of books through drama and storytelling exercises. It’s been fantastic to see them really come out of their shell and make some excellent work this term.

Also delighted to share the news that we will be hosting Holiday Activities and Food clubs for the first time this Christmas holidays. We have been awarded funding from West Sussex County Council to provide fun holiday games, sessions and performances along with hot lunches for children who qualify for free school meals, and who want to unleash their inner Bigfoot! Our HAF clubs are completely free to attend and can be booked using the links below.

At Little Yetis children will play, explore drama skills and take part in fun, expressive activities all based around well known stories. Each day will combine a range of games and active warm ups run by experienced drama workshop leaders. They will explore being storytellers and how to use puppets to stage simple tales. We will laugh together, eat lunch together and have a visit from the Clumsiest Christmas Elf at the end of the week to celebrate everything they have created! (For ages 4-7)

Story Spinners will create an original theatre production roughly 15 minutes long or a film depending on the interests of the group, drawing on new skills including dance, song, visual theatre and puppetry. Young People will take on different roles including production to come together and produce the performance/film. The production will be devised and can therefore respond to what is important to the group, making it highly relevant. The skills learned will signpost the participants to unusual creative careers in the theatre, including the possibility of entry level roles such as front of house and early career stage management. (For ages 14+)

If you would like a HAF club in your school in West Sussex please contact us as we are putting together our Expression of Interest for funding for Easter 2023 and can easily expand to more locations. If you are in Brighton & Hove, East Sussex or Hampshire and you would like a HAF club then do also get in touch as we are in conversation with each local authority and demand from a school will help us make a good case for further funding.
