It has been our busiest autumn term yet at Bigfoot Wales, with schools across the country welcoming us for a wide range of workshops, including animation, filmmaking, creative PPA cover, anti-bullying programmes and Black History Month sessions. Classrooms have been full of energy, imagination and hands-on creative learning from the very first week of term.
Our Creative PPA provision at Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary in Caerphilly has continued for a third successful year. The children have fully embraced drama, storytelling and expressive movement, developing confidence, collaboration, resilience and performing skills in every session. We are delighted to be returning next year.
This autumn also marked the expansion of our new Filmmaking Programme. We have visited several wonderful schools, delivering full-day workshops that now include up to three classes per day. Pupils explored camera angles, lighting techniques, green screen special effects, acting for camera skills and editing. Our new steady camera rig has added a professional edge to the workshops, and next term we will be introducing our brand-new drone, opening up even more exciting creative opportunities. Due to the overwhelming response, our filmmaking and animation workshops are now fully booked until after the February half-term.
We were thrilled and genuinely overwhelmed by the response to our first-ever Bigfoot Wales Panto. With only two booking slots remaining, our touring team were on the road every day, travelling across South Wales, performing to enthusiastic audiences and bringing festive theatre into school halls. Alongside the panto, our two little elves travelled across South Wales delivering “The Clumsiest Christmas Elf Show”, spreading laughter, magic and seasonal cheer wherever they went.
Our Stop Motion Animation Workshops have continued to be extremely popular, and we were especially touched by the warm feedback from Coed Eva Primary School. Vicky, who hosted the workshops, wrote:
“The children absolutely loved every minute of it — they were so engaged, creative, and proud of what they achieved.”
“Ellie’s enthusiasm and encouragement really inspired them… even after the sessions ended, they’ve been talking non-stop about their ideas and asking when they can make more!”
“We also had so many lovely messages from parents… I loved it just as much as the children did!”
A huge shoutout to Ellie-Mae Williams for her energy, patience and creativity, and for helping ignite a spark that so many learners will carry forward.
A Huge Thank You
We’re also thrilled that several schools were successful in securing Arts Council of Wales “Have A Go” funding—we’re incredibly grateful for the support and can’t wait to keep delivering high-quality creative learning experiences.
Thank you to every school, pupil and teacher who has welcomed us so warmly this term. With fully booked workshops, new equipment on the way and more schools than ever engaging with drama, film and animation, it has been an extraordinary season of creativity.
Looking Ahead
With drones taking to the sky, new filmmaking slots opening later in the spring, and exciting creative projects already in development, 2026 is shaping up to be a remarkable year. We cannot wait to continue inspiring learners, supporting schools and celebrating imagination across Wales.
