THE WFA IS OFF TO A FLYING START!

We were thrilled to launch our new Peer Mentoring programme, the World Friendship Ambassadors, in September. We have been working hard over the past 12 months to develop, create this new online video learning platform, supporting children to lead Friendship Education throughout their schools. To see it up and running in schools across the country is very exciting!

50 Primary schools began their WFA journey this term with lots of new members joining us for next term!

Mentors have been busy doing their initial Mentor training, supported by their brilliant WFA Staff Leads, and are getting ready to deliver their first chosen module, either Healthy Relationships Positive Communication or Feeling Good.

Mentors have led assemblies in which they have introduced the WFA to their peers, and they have also met Adrian, and other Mentors in other schools, during our first ever live Mentor Connection session in November. It was wonderful to meet everyone and to hear all their ideas and questions.  It has been a busy WFA term!

“We did our first assembly! The Mentors were great, and the children are all very excited! The training modules were amazing and the Mentors really connected with the thinking behind the activities. The materials have been excellent, UKS2 loved it far more than I expected! We’re so pleased to be on this journey.”

Victoria Wood, WFA Lead, Horn Park Primary, Greenwich

“Our first WFA assembly was received brilliantly. Children joined in with every action, and the mentors delivered their message with real confidence. At break duty, pupils were chanting the WFA chant at me, I love that!”

— Elaine Gay, WFA Lead, Kempston Rural Primary, Bedfordshire

“The assembly went really well; children were fully engaged with the videos and the live input from our brilliant WFA mentors. Staff commented on how engaging Adrian is and how interactive it felt. The website is easy to navigate, the resources are clear, and we’re excited to continue this journey.”

— Jen Lott, WFA Lead, Church Langley Primary School, Essex

We are really looking forward to hear how the Mentors are getting on next term; our next Mentor Connection session is on 25th February and the WFA Team are always on hand to support schools when needed. And look out for news soon about our first ever World Friendship Week in July!
