Bigfoot WALES Spring Term 2024 Round Up!

Bigfoot Wales has had an extremely busy Spring term delivering a range of curriculum enrichment programmes across South Wales. Rhys, Sarah, Beth, Fay, Laura and Erin have travelled across the country delivering our hugely popular Mabinogion storytelling workshops to the Foundation Phase and KS2 children.

‘Diolch Beth from  @bigfootwales, who introduced our KS2 pupils to  the earliest of Welsh stories from The Mabinogion. We explored stage settings, characterisation, voice projection, and the history of Arthurian legends. #creative contributors, ready to play a full part in life’ St Alban’s School

‘Year 4 also enjoyed their drama workshop today, thank you @bigfootwales for your imagination and creativity retelling the story of Branwen to our young learners. The children again gained lots of drama knowledge and skills 🎭’ Gwaunfarren Primary School

We have also been extremely busy delivering a wide range of DCF programmes to schools across the country. We were thrilled to be invited back to Pil Primary School in the Vale of Glamorgan to deliver our filmmaking workshops. We spent 2 days filming the Year 5 and 6’s, where the children created a film based on the Welsh settlers in Patagonia. The children worked tirelessly in front and behind the camera. We can’t wait for them to see the final edit!

We were also thrilled to be invited back for the third year running, to Whitchurch Primary, Cardiff, to deliver an Animation project based on water habitat destruction. We worked with 3 x Year 3 classes over three days. The children created clay models, and props, made backdrops, sets, and filmed their animations using stop motion studio and recorded their Voiceovers. These workshops act as a hook to engage the learning and the school receives a link to the children’s animations that can be shared with parents/guardians. The children absolutely love watching their final animations and we are very proud of all their hard work.

We have also had a jam packed term delivering creative PPA Cover to Bedlinog Primary and Trelewis Primary in Merthyr Tydfil and also Rhiw Syr Dafydd Primary in Caerphilly. The children have developed a range of creative skills such as Animation, Filmmaking and Drama but have also developed the Creative Habits of Mind. The feedback from staff has been wonderful and the children absolutely love their creative days!
