KNIFE CRIME WORKSHOP SUCCESS

The workshop addresses some important moral decisions that some young people might have to face. But it is so much more than just that; it empowers children to believe in themselves and make ‘powerful’ choices every day.  ” (Penwortham Primary School)

We are incredibly proud to now be entering our third year of delivering Knife Crime Prevention workshops in schools across the country.

Our Powerful Choices programmes for KS2 pupils has been going for strength to strength, and we are thrilled to have received so much positive feedback about the impact this drama programme is having in schools.

This important assembly and workshop programme was first developed in 2023 in collaboration with the Federation of Heavers Farm and Selsdon Primary Schools, which has since been developed and extended to include follow up workshop Pressure Point. You can read more about the foundations and aims of the programme in our case study HERE.

Due to popular demand, in September 2024 we developed a collection of programmes for KS3 & 4 pupils, Cut Out; a performance workshop for large groups of pupils, follow up workshops and peer to peer devising workshops. The programme contains the same key early intervention and prevention messages as well as providing pupils with a creative forum and safe space in which to have open discussions and respectfully listen to and challenge differing viewpoints. We have been so pleased with the feedback received from schools in this first year of the programmes delivery, and are looking forward to visiting more schools in 2025/26!

We are so privileged to have an extraordinary team of Educators in London and the North East who work so hard to deliver these programmes – giving pupils the very best of creative learning experiences whilst tackling sensitive and tricky issues with such care and skill. Thank you to you all!

Recent feedback includes:

POWERFUL CHOICES

An incredible programme, run by an amazing Educator- Paige. The children gained so much knowledge and life skills to take with them into secondary school and beyond. The resources used were brilliant. The children and staff all loved it.” (Mortimer St Mary’s Junior School )

Exceptional, a positive way to talk about powerful choices our children growing up in this generation face.” (Yardley Primary School)

Not only do these workshops discuss some really big issues, they approach them head-on which is so refreshing and maximised impact. The children felt safe to express their opinion and had the opportunity to reflect, justifying their own thoughts or accepting that they may be wrong.” (Alban Wood Primary School)

“Outstanding. Children were able to put themselves in the mind of the children in the story and think about the choices they would make in that situation.” (Scargill Junior School )

  CUT OUT

Adrian was fantastic at engaging our students from the start, especially the way he involved some of the more challenging and vulnerable students we have.  He managed to make it funny at times but you could hear a pin drop when tackling the really serious message.

Adrian tackled a really sensitive and difficult topic in a way that the students could relate to and from a students perspective.  The performance and script made each student feel involved in a way I’ve not seen an external speaker do in school before.” (Sandwich Technology School)

“A must-have workshop that brings the realities of knife crime to life for students and staff alike.” (Grace Academy Darlaston)

The students were able to think deeply around the topic. It allowed them to challenge misconceptions and the opportunity to share key views and ideas in a really safe and open discussion forum.” (Sir William Ramsay School)
