Story Tree Stories: Around the World with Boone
A Diversity storytelling & drama workshop
Welcome to the colourful world of the Rainbow Forest, where friendship, curiosity and discovery come together under the branches of the magical Story Tree. In this delightful Bigfoot workshop, children journey with Boone the Banana, a brave little fruit who wakes up one morning lost and alone in a supermarket far from his family bunch. What begins as a quest to find his way home soon becomes a heart warming adventure celebrating difference, diversity and belonging.
As Boone hops his way through the aisles. past cheese, bread and frozen peas, he meets an array of fruits from around the world. There’s Otis the Orange from India, who loves to sing and dance; pineapples from Brazil; lemons from Spain; kiwis from New Zealand; and apples from America. Each fruit proudly shares their story, where they come from, how they grow, and what makes them special — through fun rhymes, rhythm and movement.
At first, Boone is unsure. His family has always told him that bananas shouldn’t mix with other fruits, they’re too different. But as he listens, laughs and joins in the songs, Boone realises something wonderful: though every fruit is unique in colour, shape and flavour, they all share the same warmth, joy and love for sunshine. Before long, Boone and his new friends are dancing together in a celebration of friendship and difference, a fruit salad party of cultures and personalities!
Through story, song and movement, “Around the World with Boone” invites young children to explore the beauty of diversity, inclusion and acceptance. Pupils discover that our differences make the world brighter and more interesting, and that kindness, curiosity and open-mindedness can turn strangers into friends.
Perfect for Early Years and Key Stage 1, this interactive PSHE and drama workshop encourages children to celebrate who they are, learn about others, and understand that, just like the fruits in Boone’s story, we are all part of one wonderful, colourful bunch.
Each session is 45 minutes long for a class of 30 children. We can work with up to 5 classes over a day.
