Our exciting Diversity & Me KS2 workshop uses drama and discussion to help pupils celebrate uniqueness, understand equality and equity, and learn how to challenge discrimination with empathy and respect.
The Diversity & Me workshop engages KS2 pupils in exploring the concepts of diversity, equality, equity, and inclusion through drama-based activities, group discussions, and creative reflection. The session helps children understand that everyone is unique, with both visible and invisible differences, and that fairness does not always mean treating everyone the same. Using activities such as “10 Second Tableaux,” “Step into the Circle,” and “role model games”, students are encouraged to reflect on their own similarities and differences, explore how discrimination can arise, and celebrate the positive contributions of people from diverse and minority groups. Through examples of public figures like Rose Ayling-Ellis, Kadeena Cox, and Tom Holland, pupils gain a better understanding of how challenges can be overcome and why inclusion and representation are so important.
By the end of the workshop, pupils will have learned the definitions of key terms such as equality, diversity, equity, acceptance, and belonging, and will be able to identify discrimination and know how to positively challenge it. The workshop aims to foster empathy, respect, and collaboration, while equipping pupils with the tools to create a welcoming and supportive school community. The learning outcomes include recognising protected characteristics, understanding the benefits of a diverse community, and learning practical ways to ensure everyone feels included and valued. Drama techniques such as still image, movement, and improvisation are used throughout to embed learning and inspire confident communication.
We can deliver 1 hour workshops to 5 selected classes of 30 children over one day.
