Creative learning inspired by the musical by Golden Toad Theatre, based on the book by Gillian Hibbs
In partnership with Golden Toad Theatre, Bigfoot Arts Education is delighted to offer two joyful workshops inspired by the uplifting musical Errol’s Garden, based on Gillian Hibbs’ much-loved picture book. These creative sessions for EYFS and KS1 celebrate community, imagination, and the power of growth, both in the garden and within ourselves.
Bring the magic of Errol’s Garden to life in your school with two joyful workshops for EYFS and KS1 that celebrate creativity, teamwork, and growth.
In Errol’s Garden: Creative Dance Workshop, children explore the story through movement, music, and imagination, learning a lively choreographed routine to “This Is How We Grow” and designing their own unique plants to bring to life through dance. Blending storytelling, musical theatre, and expressive play, this session helps pupils grow in confidence and creativity as they discover how we all “grow together.”
In Errol’s Garden: Planting Workshop*, pupils explore Errol’s story through rhythm, drama, and hands-on planting. They act out moments from the book, share their dreams for the future, and plant their very own seedling to take home, a living reminder of care, patience, and possibility. Through storytelling, teamwork, and connection with nature, children learn that growth happens not just in the garden, but in themselves.
Together, these workshops combine story, song, and self-expression to nurture creativity, confidence, and curiosity, inspiring young learners to see how imagination and community can help anything bloom.
About Errol’s Garden
Errol’s Garden, written and illustrated by Gillian Hibbs, is a heart warming picture book about imagination, community, and the joy of growing things together. Errol lives in a flat but dreams of having his own garden. With determination, and the help of his kind and creative neighbours, he transforms the rooftop of his building into a shared green space full of colour, life, and friendship. It’s a story that celebrates teamwork, belonging, and the magic that happens when dreams take root.
