A magical way to support children through transition!
In the heart of the Rainbow Clearing stands the Story Tree, a tree that has kept every story ever told safe among its branches. But one day, something began to change. The Story Tree grew restless. Instead of only holding other people’s stories, it longed to tell its own.
At first, the animals of the forest weren’t sure. “We don’t like change!” they cried. But with a little encouragement from Tara the Story Tickler, they agreed to listen. And night after night, as the Story Tree shared his tales of friendship, of festive surprises, and even of the time before he grew, the animals discovered something important:
Change can feel strange. Change can feel scary. But change can also be wonderful.
Through puppetry, drama, movement, and storytelling, children are invited to step into the Rainbow Clearing and help the animals explore what change feels like. They join in with grumpy faces, big sighs, baffled looks, and brave growing-tree stretches as the Story Tree reminds them that change is part of life and that it can bring new friends, new adventures, and new possibilities.
By the end of the story, the animals have learned (and the children too) that:
- Everyone feels unsettled by change—you’re not alone.
- Sharing worries helps—just like the animals did with Tara.
- Change can bring joy—new things to try, new people to meet, new stories to tell.
Every Story Tree session ends with a promise: just like the animals of the Rainbow Clearing, we’ll each try one new thing in the week ahead. Because change is not something to fear, it’s the magic that keeps the wheels of life turning.
Each storytelling session is 45 minutes long for a class of 30 children in Nursery and reception. We can deliver up to 5 sessions in a day.
