The Worry Wizard: From Worries to Wellbeing: A 6 Week Journey

Over six weeks, children embark on a creative and empowering journey with The Worry Wizard, discovering that worries are something we all share and that looking after our Wellbeing is a daily practice. In Week 1, they meet Sonny and learn the vital truth: “We all have Worries. We’re not alone.” Through drama and playful activities, they see how sharing worries makes them smaller and begin to explore what Wellbeing means. By Week 2, the focus shifts to building trust and community, creating safe spaces where children can share feelings, connect through games, and discover that everyone experiences worries, just like Jack in Jack and The Worry Wizard.

In Week 3, children learn that Wellbeing is not fixed but fluctuates throughout the day, rising and falling like a Wellbeing-o-meter. They practise noticing their feelings, explore tools that can help, and understand that small daily actions make a big difference. By Week 4, the spotlight turns to the Wellbeing Quality of Community, exploring how connection lifts us up when life’s “horrible stuff” weighs us down. Activities like the Hot Air Balloon and The Invisible String highlight the power of belonging and remind children they are never truly alone.

Week 5 introduces the Wellbeing Quality of Action, the courage to do. Through Sonny’s sunflower story, children discover that Wellbeing needs daily care and that ignoring it allows worries to grow. Singing, drama, and making a Wellbeing Promise empower them to take ownership of supporting themselves every day. Finally, in Week 6, children embrace Curiosity, learning to wonder about their own feelings and empathise with others. Through the Worry Tunnel and the story Hey Warrior, they see how worries affect the body and why talking and exploring with curiosity helps lighten the load.

Across these six weeks, children build a toolkit of Wellbeing Qualities; Community, Action, Curiosity, and more that enable them to recognise worries, share them, and actively nurture their Wellbeing. They leave knowing that while worries will always be part of life, they are never alone, and with the right tools and support, they can shine.

Schools can also book a 12 week Shine Residency whereby children work on all TEN Worry Wizard Qualities!

Each day we will deliver 1 hour sessions to up to 5 classes of 30 pupils over 60 or 12 weeks for KS1 and KS2.
