Join Focus the Time Investigator and Tock the Time Historian on an unforgettable journey through time, where pupils uncover the hidden stories of Black British history that have shaped our nation. But there’s a twist: to power their time machine and secure a better future, Focus and Tock need your help!
Through drama, discovery, and high-energy interaction, pupils will explore the lives of five inspirational Hidden Figures:
- Ivory Bangle Lady – A wealthy young woman from Roman Britain, proof of Black presence thousands of years ago.
- Ignatius Sancho – The first Black Briton to vote, a musician, writer, and abolitionist.
- Len Garrison – Visionary founder of the Black Cultural Archives, preserving history for future generations.
- Dame Elizabeth Anionwu – Pioneering nurse specialist who transformed care for sickle cell patients.
- Olive Morris – Fearless activist who fought for equality, housing rights, and social justice.
With discovery bags, artefacts, music, roleplay, and student-led activities, children help bring these extraordinary lives to light. Along the way, they build “Time Energy” to reach 100% and graduate as official Time Investigators, empowered to continue uncovering and celebrating Hidden Figures in their own communities.
More than a performance, Hidden Figures: The Big Experience is a thrilling learning adventure that sparks curiosity, builds empathy, and inspires young people to see themselves as changemakers. It’s Black British history brought to life – bold, interactive, and unforgettable.
A Bigfoot Arts Education Big Experience is a hybrid of a theatrical spectacle and interactive drama based workshop which involves carefully curated ‘safe’ games, and exercises that are created for larger groups.
Each hour long Big Experience caters for up to 120 pupils (4 classes) from KS1 & KS2. We can deliver up to 4 x 1 hour experiences across a school day.
