Bigfoot’s Secondary Knife Crime Prevention programme provides an early intervention approach to understanding key messages around knife crime and keeping safe. The programmes will provide pupils with a creative forum and safe space in which to have open discussions and respectfully listen to and challenge differing viewpoints.
What happens when one decision changes everything?
CUT OUT is a powerful, interactive drama experience that tackles the realities of knife crime head-on. At its centre is Marcus, a 14-year-old who could be any teenager in any school. When Marcus finds himself caught between loyalty, pressure, and fear, pupils are invited to step into his world, explore the choices he makes, and confront the very real consequences of those choices.
Through a dynamic blend of live performance, voice notes, debate, and hard-hitting facts, students are not just spectators but active participants in Marcus’s story. They are asked to think critically, share their voices, and help navigate the challenges Marcus faces questions of friendship, safety, reputation, and risk.
This gripping learning journey exposes the myths surrounding knives, explores why young people might feel compelled to carry them, and highlights the devastating impact they can have on lives, families, and communities. By engaging with the drama, pupils are given space to reflect on their own values, practice decision-making in a safe environment, and gain the tools and confidence to make safer, stronger choices in real life.
CUT OUT is more than a workshop, it’s a lifeline. It raises awareness, challenges assumptions, and sparks the kind of open, honest conversations that can save lives.
Format:
Each performance workshop is 50 minutes long and can take place in larger studio space style learning environments or a hall space.
We can work with 60 pupils approx. in each session period with additional classroom support.
