Bigfoot North Summer Term 2024 Round Up

As we end the academic year, our Summer term has been nothing short of extraordinary, brimming with creative endeavours, impactful partnerships and even an award!

This term, we celebrated the spirit of the Olympics with our Olympic Extravaganza workshops. Schools across the North enthusiastically participated, creating vibrant and imaginative opening ceremonies that saw sport and drama come together! The energy and enthusiasm of the students were truly inspiring!

Our Memories and Moving On workshops have been a highlight, as we continue to support students about to transition into new year groups and schools. The videos created during these sessions have been a hit in leavers’ assemblies, capturing precious memories and moving moments.

Mental Health Awareness Week (May 13-19, 2024) saw us delivering plenty of ‘From Worries to Wellbeing’ workshops. These sessions focused on promoting mental wellness and providing practical tips for nurturing our wellbeing. The feedback from schools was overwhelmingly positive, with many noting the importance of these discussions for young minds.

A pinnacle achievement this term was being awarded the Chris Drinkwater Creative Health in Primary Schools Award 2024. This honour recognised our Interwoven project, a collaboration with the local library and Battle Hill Primary School. Together, we created an intergenerational piece of artwork that now adorns Battle Hill library, celebrating community and local heritage. This project has earned us the title of Creative Health Champions, a testament to our commitment to integrating creativity and health in education.

We’re now busy preparing to deliver two Summer Holiday Clubs in partnership with North Tyneside Council at primary schools in North Shields. We will be delivering holiday clubs throughout the Summer Holidays to young people who are in receipt of free school meals to ensure they enjoy a fun filled, active and healthy Summer.

Here’s to a fabulous Summer Holiday and see you in the Autumn!
