Our wonderful friend, Hamed Amiri, has just had his second book ‘The Other Boy’ published by Hachette!
Hamed is an integral part of our Secondary School Refugee programme ‘The Big Refugee Debate’, where his candid interview helps young people understand the immense challenges that refugees face to find a place of safety. A place to call home. His first book ‘The Boy with Two Hearts’, on which our interview is based, is the true story of an Afghan family’s perilous journey to the UK, driven by survival and the urgent need for life saving medical care for the eldest child. A powerful story of hope, courage, and humanity – and a heartfelt tribute to the NHS- it’s no wonder that his second book for children has been so widely anticipated!
Written for readers aged 9–12, ‘The Other Boy’ tells his story—from arriving in the UK unable to speak English and struggling at school, to being underestimated and eventually learning that our labels, failures and setbacks do not have to determine where we end up. It explores belonging, identity, friendship, resilience and finding your own voice.
Hamed is beyond inspirational and we are delighted to help share his work- his story and his legacy- far and wide!

Everything is tailored for specific age groups, with Hamed regularly speaking across primary, secondary, sixth form/college and university settings, shaping the content around each school’s specific aims and outcomes.
Individual school visits are normally charged around £300–£500, depending on location and specific bespoke requirements
