Stories, Legends and Creative Adventures Across Wales

From Mabinogion storytelling and drama workshops to exciting animation projects, Bigfoot Wales has been travelling across the country, bringing creativity and imagination to schools this Spring.

It has been a wonderfully busy and creative Spring term for Bigfoot Arts Education Wales, with our team travelling across Wales bringing storytelling, drama and creativity to primary schools.

This term, we have delivered our Mabinogion Storytelling Drama Workshops to 45 primary schools across Wales, sharing the magic of Welsh mythology with thousands of pupils. Through drama, role play and imaginative storytelling, children explored legendary tales from the Mabinogion, stepping into the roles of kings, queens, heroes and mythical characters.

The workshops encourage pupils to collaborate, build confidence and express themselves creatively while discovering the rich heritage of Welsh storytelling.

We have been delighted by the fantastic feedback from schools.

Some recent feedback includes:

“The workshop was an enriching and joyful experience. It provided a creative environment where each child felt encouraged to express themselves freely.”
— Nottage Primary

“Really engaging way of teaching the story of Branwen.”
— Penpych Primary

“Fantastic experience, children loved using drama to retell parts of the story, exceptional drama activities, very professional, amazing behaviour strategies.”
— Cwmlai Primary

It has been wonderful to see so many pupils discovering Welsh legends through drama and storytelling.

Animation and Film Workshops

Alongside our drama workshops, we have also been delivering a range of Animation and Film-Making Workshops in schools across Wales. Pupils have been learning how to create their own stories on screen through stop-motion animation and filmmaking, developing creativity, teamwork and digital storytelling skills.

We are especially delighted to be returning once again to Whitchurch Primary School, where pupils are creating an animation that will be entered into the Climate Challenge Cymru 2026 competition. The project encourages children to think about environmental issues and share their ideas through animation and film.

We are also very grateful to the Arts Council of Wales through the “Have a Go” funding, which has once again supported several of our Digital Competence Framework (DCF) projects this year. This funding allows schools to access creative digital workshops and allows pupils to “have a go” at developing new digital and creative skills, including animation, filmmaking and storytelling.

We are hugely grateful for this support, which helps more schools across Wales take part in exciting creative projects and gives young people the chance to explore new skills, build confidence and discover their creativity.

Looking Ahead – Food and Fun 2026

We are also thrilled to be joining the Food and Fun programme as a National Partner for the first time in Summer 2026.

Over the summer holidays, Bigfoot Arts Education Wales will be delivering fun, energetic and inclusive drama workshops to schools and communities across Wales. The theme for this year’s programme will be Legends, giving children the opportunity to explore myths, heroic adventures and traditional stories through drama and imaginative play.

Through storytelling, role-play and creative performance, children will be able to step into legendary worlds, create characters and bring stories to life together.

We are incredibly excited to be part of the programme and can’t wait to bring the spirit of legends and storytelling to young people across Wales this summer.

Thank You

It’s been a brilliant and creative term for Bigfoot Arts Education Wales, and we look forward to many more stories, workshops and imaginative adventures with schools across Wales in the months ahead.
