Circus Skills Workshop for Primary Schools
Building confidence, coordination, and creativity through the magic of the circus!
Bring the wonder of the Big Top to your school with our Circus Skills Workshop, an energetic, hands-on session that inspires pupils to challenge themselves, work together, and discover the joy of learning new skills.
Designed specifically for primary-aged children, this session combines physical education, performing arts, and personal development in a playful, confidence-boosting environment.
What Happens in the Workshop
The session begins with lively introductions and circus-themed icebreakers that immediately engage pupils and spark curiosity. After a fun warm-up and stretch, our facilitator introduces the core circus skills and explains that every performer succeeds through practice, focus, and perseverance.
Pupils then rotate through exciting activity stations, each led by clear demonstrations and supported practice time:
- Juggling: From simple throw-and-catch exercises to two- and three-ball patterns, pupils develop hand-eye coordination, concentration, and resilience.
- Plate Spinning: Pupils learn to balance, spin, and even pass their plates, promoting fine motor control and teamwork.
- Diabolo: A thrilling introduction to spinning, throwing, and catching techniques that build control, timing, and confidence.
Depending on group size and equipment, juggling may be taught as a whole-class activity before moving into smaller rotation groups.
