Bigfoot Perform: A Performing Arts Creative Residency & PPA Programme

A Weekly Performing Arts, Oracy and Personal Development PROGRAMME FOR PRIMARY SCHOOLS. Use as an effective ppa cover solution or as a teacher cpd opportunity.

Bigfoot has been delivering performing arts PPA cover in primary schools since 2005, and our work was recognised as a case study by the National Remodelling Team, the body established by the DfES to lead workforce reform across schools in England, demonstrating how the arts could deliver effective and high quality PPA cover. Bigfoot Perform brings that experience into your school every week, with a programme built entirely around your children, your priorities and what you most want them to achieve.

Before a single session takes place, your Bigfoot educator visits the school to meet your senior leadership team, observe classes and have honest conversations about your children and what you want this programme to achieve. What follows is a bespoke plan built entirely around those discussions, not a one-size-fits-all package. From there, weekly sessions begin, with pupils guided through an exciting performance project built around a story, text or curriculum theme agreed with your school. Children explore theatre skills using their voice, body and imagination, then apply those skills to create their own original devised work through Bigfoot’s Organic Theatre process.

“Bigfoot bring something special and unique into our school each week. Children are more confident, more respectful of each other and their oracy skills have vastly improved. Well worth the investment.” — Teacher, Langley Park School

ORGANIC THEATRE – Creative Nourishment for Personal Growth

Bigfoot focuses on the development of the whole child through creativity, collaboration and application of skills. We use the arts to nurture social skills, encourage risk taking and promote Oracy through performance. As an ensemble, pupils work together to create their own original work inspired by skills they have learned and honed. The creative process and their capacity to grow and achieve as individuals is something that is developed over time.

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Develop confidence, self-expression and the courage to share ideas and perform in front of others
  • Build oracy, communication and active listening skills through sustained weekly theatre work
