Our exciting Diversity & Me KS2 workshop uses drama and discussion to help pupils celebrate uniqueness, understand equality and equity, and learn how to challenge discrimination with empathy and respect.
Diversity & Me! is an interactive KS2 drama workshop that invites pupils to explore what it really means to live, learn and play alongside people whose experiences, backgrounds and identities may differ from their own. Through creative drama activities, discussion and roleplay, children develop a genuine understanding of equality, equity, diversity and inclusion, and discover how they can actively champion kindness and belonging in their school community.
Children begin by considering what the words equality, diversity and inclusion actually mean to them, quickly discovering that while the ideas are familiar, their depth is surprising. Through physical, collaborative exploration, pupils learn to distinguish between being treated equally and being treated fairly, understanding that what we each need can look very different depending on who we are and the challenges we face.
Pupils turn their attention to the visible and non-visible differences that make each of us unique, drawing on the lives of real role models who have faced and overcome discrimination. The session builds towards a vital question: when we witness unfair treatment, what stops us from speaking up? Children leave with the confidence, language and compassion to be genuine allies to those around them.
