Honey Pots of Imagination: A Drama Workshop Celebrating 100 years of Winnie the Pooh
In 2026 we celebrate two very special moments. It is the National Year of Reading and it is 100 years since Winnie the Pooh first stepped into the Hundred Acre Wood. For a whole century, these gentle, funny and heartfelt stories have helped children understand friendship, feelings and imagination.
Honey Pots of Imagination is a joyful, interactive one hour drama workshop designed especially for EYFS learners*, where through movement, song, storytelling and imaginative play children meet the characters, explore emotions and discover the magic behind the stories in an active and inclusive way that supports early literacy, expressive language, communication and personal development while nurturing a lifelong love of stories.
*Schools can also opt to book similar workshops for KS1 and KS2
Learning objectives
Children learn about the man who wrote Winnie the Pooh and why he created the stories. They meet the characters who live in the Hundred Acre Wood and explore their personalities. They use their bodies and voices to help tell a story. They think about friendship and feelings. They use their imagination throughout the session.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the workshop, children know that A A Milne wrote the stories for his son Christopher Robin. They recognise the main characters and can describe what they are like. They join in with interactive storytelling. They show emotions through movement and facial expression. They leave feeling excited about reading and sharing stories.

While the 100 year anniversary in October is a wonderful moment to celebrate, this EYFS workshop can be delivered at any point in the year. It supports early reading, expressive language, emotional literacy and imaginative play while introducing children to one of the most loved story worlds of all time.
