Mabinogion Storytelling Workshops

Suitable for Nursery–Year 9 | Available across all regions of Wales

Heroes. Magic. Ancient Welsh Myth.

Step into a world of heroes, giants, magic, adventure and ancient Welsh legend with Bigfoot Wales’ hugely popular Mabinogion Storytelling Workshops.

These highly engaging, immersive workshops bring some of Wales’ greatest stories to life, giving pupils the opportunity not just to hear the tales of the Mabinogion, but to step inside them.

Led by our experienced Welsh Bigfoot facilitators, pupils explore the stories through interactive storytelling, drama, movement, character work, props, costume and imaginative play, becoming part of the action and helping to recreate key moments from these extraordinary tales.

From our youngest pupils experiencing the magic of a story through play and imagination, to older pupils delving deeper into character, narrative and the art of oral storytelling, every workshop is carefully adapted to the age and ability of the group.

Welsh stories brought to life

The Mabinogion is an incredible part of Wales’ storytelling heritage, and our workshops give pupils an exciting and accessible way to discover these stories for themselves.

Through voice, movement, expression, teamwork and imagination, children develop their own storytelling skills while exploring the characters, themes and worlds within these ancient Welsh tales.

Sessions link strongly with the Curriculum for Wales, particularly Expressive Arts, Literacy & Oracy, and Welsh culture and heritage.

Workshops can be tailored around individual classes or delivered as longer, more in-depth experiences, allowing pupils to explore storytelling techniques and use props and costume to retell parts of the story themselves.

Schools also receive a supporting resource pack, including session plans, worksheets and extension activities, so that the learning and creativity can continue back in the classroom.

Available to schools across all regions of Wales. Fill Out the form below and we will come back to you with a quotation. In the comments section tell us more about your school, how many classes you want us to work with and year groups.
