An Introduction to Shakespeare

Bring Shakespeare’s timeless stories to life in a fun, interactive way that helps students connect with the Bard beyond the page. Using drama techniques such as mask work, tableaux, and group devising, pupils step into the world of Shakespeare’s plays, exploring key themes, characters, and theatrical devices through creativity and play.

In a typical workshop, students might investigate Romeo and Juliet’s famous party scene, using masks and improvisation to explore the power of disguise and dramatic irony. They’ll learn to collaborate in groups, create short performances, and evaluate their own and others’ work, all while building confidence and performance skills.

These sessions support literacy, oracy, and drama skills, helping children understand Shakespeare’s stories and language in an exciting, accessible way. Whether it’s comedy, tragedy, or romance, our workshops prove that Shakespeare is as thrilling and relevant today as ever.

Book these exciting drama workshops to celebrate World Book Day, Book Weeks or Shakespeare Week or simply a creative treat for any class.

Texts include: Romeo and Juliet, The Tempest, Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream.

Each hour-long workshop caters for a class of 30 from KS1 & KS2. We have also developed an EYFS workshop for A Midsummer Night’s Dream which is 30 minutes in length.
