A courtroom comedy that turns a classic tale on its head – Or a Twisted Tale as some would say! Perfect to book for your Primary School all year round, especially for World Book Day, Book Weeks, Enrichment Days, Arts Week or a Post SAT end of term treat!
She broke into a house, ate someone else’s porridge and fell asleep in a stranger’s bed. Guilty, surely? Not so fast. Goldilocks on Trial is Bigfoot’s interactive Goldilocks drama performance for KS1 and KS2 that takes the most notorious blonde in fairy tale history and gives her a chance to tell her side of the story. It is theatrical, hilarious and genuinely surprising, with your pupils right at the heart of it as jury, gallery and key witnesses.
Court is in session. Judge Knowitall presides. And into the dock saunters Miss Goldi Lozziski, all sass and smiles, absolutely certain she has done nothing wrong. As the evidence is laid out and witnesses are called, pupils hear a Goldilocks story they have never encountered before: one involving a failed career as a chef, a very sleepy stint as a librarian and an ambitious plan to become a lifestyle influencer. Exhibits are brought to the evidence table, a jury of twelve pupils deliberates, and a scribe takes careful notes as the case unfolds in gloriously unexpected directions.
The courtroom buzzes with opinion throughout. Pupils are invited to respond, discuss and decide at every turn, making this far more than a performance they simply watch. The comedy is real, the characters are brilliantly drawn and the moment Judge Knowitall calls for a verdict is one that leaves the room genuinely divided. It is the kind of experience that follows children back into the classroom and has them still talking at playtime.
“It enhanced children’s engagement in reading and writing. They came out of the hall buzzing with excitement and spent their playtime talking about the story and characters. It gave them a true insight into Goldilocks’ character, which they incorporated into their writing.” — Louise Hogan, Teacher, Brooms Barn Primary School
