WALES SPRING TERM ROUND UP

Bigfoot Wales has had an extremely busy term delivering a range of curriculum enrichment programmes across South Wales. Sarah, Megan, Anna, Jo and Fay have travelled across the country delivering our hugely popular Mabinogion storytelling workshops to the Foundation Phase and KS2 children.

Year 5 loved having @bigfootarts in school. We took part in a fantastic drama workshop all about the story of Culhwch and Olwen. (Danescourt Primary, Cardiff)

Year 4 loved their workshops today with Sarah form @bigfootwales! We learnt about storytelling and the story of Branwen in Welsh culture! Diolch Sarah! (Springwood Primary, Cardiff)

Big thanks to Sarah from Big Foot Arts Education who taught us the legend of Branwen through drama. 2KW/JK loved the warmup games and making freeze frames of the different scenes from the story. (Maes Yr Haul Primary, Bridgend)

As well as our Welsh storytelling workshops, we have been extremely busy delivering a wide range of DCF programmes to schools across the country. We were thrilled to be invited back to Rhws Primary School in the Vale of Glamorgan to deliver our film making workshops. We spent 4 days filming the Year 5’s where the children worked tirelessly in front and behind the camera. We can’t wait for them to see the final edit!

@rhwsprimary @bigfootwales. A couple of shots from behind the scenes of Year 5’s first day of filming for their enquiry about Protests and Politics. We are really looking forward to watching the film once it’s all put together.

Can I say what an amazing job you have done! You have captured the children so well. You got so much out of them all, even the more reluctant ones who have since said they would love to do something like this again! Words I never thought I’d hear! They are so lucky to have the opportunity to work with you. Thank you again. I can’t wait now for their parents to watch it.

The films are absolutely incredible! The children are so happy and have LOVED watching themselves on screen! (Rhws Primary, Vale of Glamorgan)

Over the past 10 years, we have been busy delivering animation workshops using a simple process using istop motion. These workshops act as a hook to engage the learning on given stories or themes that the children are focusing on in class. The children are given an opportunity to create backdrops, sets, props and characters out of plasticine, storyboards, and scripts. Finally filming their animations using stop motion studio. The school receive a link of the children’s animations that can be shared to parents/guardians. The children absolutely love watching their final animations and we are very proud of all their hard work.

Waun Fach had a great day working with @bigfootarts creating animations yesterday. We learnt lots of skills that we will use in our independent tasks this term. (Penygawsi primary, RCT)
