A fun and informative way to engage children to really think about online safety and how the internet can have an impact on their lives.
Our Bigfooters across the country had a wonderfully busy Safer Internet Day earlier this term, helping children explore how important it is to be kind and respectful online, as well as acknowledging that everyone can have a positive experience if we all agree to follow some simple online safety and behaviour rules.
Each year we broaden and update our popular range of inspiring and creative Safer Internet programmes – performances, workshops and even films –helping to ensure that all children can benefit from our programmes and this important work.
This year, along with our popular Boo Gets Cyber Smart workshops for EYFS and KS1 pupils, our Bigfooters-in-role visited KS2 pupils with our new interactive programme, Be a Cyber Smart-Y, exploring this year’s Safer Internet Day theme ‘Smart Tech, Safe Choices’. We were delighted to work with schools in the North East and Yorkshire as well as London and the Home Counties, enabling whole year groups to work together to explore key online safety and behaviour messages, in the most enjoyable and creative way!
In all programmes, Bigfoot’s World Friendship Ambassadors support and empower pupils to establish positive and healthy online habits, building their resilience to develop safe and appropriate long term behaviours and relationships in online communities. All programmes explore how to access support and where to go for help, as well how to have difficult conversations when we have worries or concerns. All the programmes celebrate the positives of the online world if we use some key online safety rules, which are explored through a range of brilliantly fun and positive creative experiences!
We are always thrilled with the feedback we receive from schools in response to our various programmes.
