Bigfoot Perform: A Performing Arts Programme for Primary Schools
Unlocking potential, building confidence and creating opportunity for every child
Bigfoot Perform is Bigfoot’s flagship performing arts, oracy and personal development programme for primary schools that can be delivered after school, during curriculum time and throughout the school holidays.
Why Bigfoot Perform Exists
The performing arts have the power to change children’s lives. Not simply by helping them be better performers, but by helping them to be more confident, more empathetic, more articulate and better prepared for the world that awaits them. Drama and the performing arts provides children with valuable life skills, enabling them to communicate, to listen, to collaborate and to creatively express who they are with pride and courage. These are the foundations of a fulfilled and successful life.
At the heart of everything Bigfoot does, sits the African philosophy of Ubuntu: the belief that it takes a village to raise a child. Bigfoot Perform is built on that truth. In partnership with your school our commitment is to help nurture the ‘whole child’ in an inclusive and trusting creative community where every child feels seen, valued and safe to take risks, make mistakes and grow. We have spent over 26 years witnessing how the arts transform children’s lives, and our conviction has never been stronger: that high quality performing arts education should not be a privilege reserved for those who can afford to pay for it. It should be available to every child, in every school, as a matter of course. By inviting Bigfoot to be part of your school’s village we shall deliver that commitment with passion and pride.
What Bigfoot Perform Offers
Bigfoot Perform is delivered across three interconnected strands, each grounded in the same commitment to access, excellence and the transformative power of the arts. For schools wishing to formally recognise their pupils’ achievements, all three strands offer the opportunity to work towards group LAMDA examinations, internationally recognised performing arts qualifications that raise attainment and give children something to be proud of.
Bigfoot Perform After School brings weekly sessions across a ten-week programme, giving children a dedicated creative space outside the school day to explore the performing arts, build friendships and develop their creative identity within a supportive and inclusive ensemble.
Bigfoot Perform Artist In Residence is a regular weekly curriculum-linked performing arts programme delivered during school hours, developing oracy, creativity and essential life skills. Available as high quality PPA cover or as a CPD opportunity for teachers working alongside our arts educators.
Bigfoot Perform School Holiday Performing Arts Courses are immersive learning experiences that take place during Easter and Summer holiday periods, combining theatre skills development and personal growth with a performance outcome.
